What we do

When you are living with a life-limiting illness – the good days really matter.

Palliative care is active care that aims to relieve suffering and promote comfort when cure is no longer possible. This care provides physical, psychological, social, emotional and spiritual support for patients, families and their friends. The Southern Adelaide Palliative Services (SAPS) is an award-winning consultative service providing care for people with a life-limiting illness in southern metropolitan Adelaide. Raising funds to support services helps to improve the lives of people affected by life-limiting illness and their families. Dying affects us all.

Help us to raise funds to support services in our community because together with SAPS we make the difference!

Laurel Hospice
Laurel Hospice is a specialised 15-bed inpatient unit located adjacent Flinders Medical Centre, to assist patients with active symptom management, as a transition to home from hospital, or for care in the terminal stage of illness. To learn more please download the Laurel Hospice Booklet here.

Art Therapy
Art has long been understood to be a universal language for life experience, like music and dance. We tend to think of art as the realm of artists, but this is not so. Anyone can enjoy art without needing particular skills, and often find extraordinary pleasure and achievement in the process. Learn more by clicking here.

Pets as Therapy
Patients often feel isolated and even the most withdrawn seem to open up and let the barriers down when the Pets as Therapy visiting dogs are around. These dogs bring everyday life closer and with it all the happy associations of home. The companionship of an undemanding animal, that gives unconditional love, is often one of the most missed aspects of a patient’s life. Learn more about this special initiative.

Community Support
Specialist outreach nurses and social workers support the care provided by GPs and community nurses to patients in their homes and in residential care facilities in the southern region. You can find more information within the SAPS brochure.
